If you are planning to travel from Nigeria to China in 2026, the first question is usually: how much does a China visa cost? The short answer is that the embassy visa fee is ₦10,500 to ₦31,500, but that is not the full amount you will pay.
Your total depends on the number of entries you need, the visa centre service fee, how fast you want it processed, and any optional services you choose. This guide breaks down every part of the cost, so you know exactly what to budget and can spot an unfair quotation.
China Visa Fee in Nigeria (2026)
For Nigerian citizens with ordinary passports, the Chinese Embassy’s current visa fees are:
| Visa entry type | Embassy visa fee |
|---|---|
| Single entry | ₦10,500 |
| Double entry | ₦15,750 |
| Multiple entry, 6 months | ₦21,000 |
| Multiple entry, 1 year | ₦31,500 |
These are reduced fees published by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and they are stated to remain in effect until 31 December 2026. They cover the visa itself only, not the full cost of applying.
Is ₦10,500 the Total Cost of a China Visa?
No. This is the most common misunderstanding. The embassy visa fee and the visa centre service fee are two separate charges, and every applicant pays both.
The four parts of a China visa cost
- Embassy visa fee: ₦10,500 to ₦31,500, depending on the number of entries.
- Visa centre service fee: paid to the China Visa Application Service Center for processing your application. This is compulsory.
- Optional centre services: faster processing, VIP lounge, form-filling help, courier delivery. You only pay if you choose them.
- Agent or consultant fee: only if you use a travel agency to help prepare your application.
Most confusion, and most overcharging, happens because people are quoted one number without being told which of these four parts it includes.
China Visa Application Centre Service Fee
The China Visa Application Service Center in Lagos charges its own service fee on top of the embassy visa fee. Its published fees, inclusive of taxes, are:
| Processing speed | Centre service fee |
|---|---|
| Regular | ₦74,500 |
| Express | ₦116,900 |
| Urgent (Express 1) | ₦149,000 |
The centre also offers an optional Premium Lounge service for an extra ₦74,500 (including VAT), paid on top of the visa and service fees. It is a comfort service and does not affect the visa decision.
What most applicants actually pay
| Visa type | Embassy fee | Regular centre fee | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single entry | ₦10,500 | ₦74,500 | ₦85,000 |
| Double entry | ₦15,750 | ₦74,500 | ₦90,250 |
| Multiple entry, 6 months | ₦21,000 | ₦74,500 | ₦95,500 |
| Multiple entry, 1 year | ₦31,500 | ₦74,500 | ₦106,000 |
These totals use regular processing and no optional services. Fees can change, so always confirm the current amount with the official centre before you pay.

China Business Visa (M Visa) Cost in Nigeria
If you are travelling for trade, sourcing, factory visits or trade fairs such as the Canton Fair, you will usually apply for an M visa (commercial and trade).
The M visa does not have a separate, higher embassy fee. You pay according to the number of entries granted, from ₦10,500 for single entry up to ₦31,500 for one-year multiple entry, plus the center service fee. Frequent business travelers often benefit from a multiple-entry visa, which works out cheaper per trip.
Business applicants also need an invitation letter from a Chinese company. Read our guide to the China visa invitation letter for Nigerians. (china-visa-invitation-letter-nigeria)
China Tourist Visa Cost from Nigeria
Tourist (L) visas follow the same fee table: ₦10,500 for single entry up to ₦31,500 for one-year multiple entry, plus the centre service fee.
Important: under current Chinese Embassy guidance, Nigerian citizens applying for a tourist visa are asked to join a tourist group of more than five people, with a tourism invitation letter issued by an authorised travel agency in China. Plan for this before you book anything.
Cost for a family or group
Each traveller pays their own visa fee and centre fee. For example, a family of five on single-entry visas would pay 5 × ₦10,500 = ₦52,500 in embassy fees, plus 5 × ₦74,500 = ₦372,500 in regular centre fees, a total of ₦425,000 before any optional services.
Why Do Some Agents Quote Much More Than ₦10,500?
You may see quotes of ₦150,000, ₦300,000 or more. That is not automatically a scam. A full quotation can legitimately include the embassy fee, the centre fee, optional services, flight and hotel reservations, travel insurance and the agent’s own service charge.
The problem is when a quotation hides what it includes, or when someone claims the government visa fee itself is ₦150,000 or more. It is not.
Questions to ask before paying a China visa agent
- How much of this is the embassy visa fee, and how much is the centre service fee?
- How much is your own service charge?
- Which optional services, if any, are included, and do I need them?
- Are flight and hotel reservations included?
- What happens if my application is refused? Which parts are refundable?
- Can I see the official receipts for the embassy and centre fees?
A trustworthy agent will answer all of these clearly and in writing.
Other Costs to Budget For
The visa is only the start of your China travel budget. Depending on your trip, you may also need:
- Flight booking: depends on airline, dates and class.
- Hotel accommodation: often needed as supporting documentation.
- Travel insurance: recommended, and sometimes requested.
- Local transport in China: airport transfers, trains and taxis to markets or factories.
- Business documents: invitation letters and company documents for business travellers.
- Optional centre services: express processing, VIP lounge or courier.
China Visa Processing Time in Nigeria
The Chinese Embassy states that a visa application normally takes 4 working days to process, subject to the visa officer’s decision. Some applications take longer.
The China Visa Application Service Center recommends applying around three months before you travel. Avoid buying non-refundable flights until your visa is approved.
Where Is the China Visa Application Centre in Lagos?
Since 16 March 2026, the centre is located at:
3rd Floor, Purple Mall, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos 106104, Nigeria.
Check the official centre website before you go, as opening hours and procedures can change.
Can I Apply for a China Visa Without an Agent?
Yes. Using an agent is not compulsory. You can follow the official process and apply directly at the visa centre.
Many applicants still choose professional help because they are unsure which visa category applies to them, how to complete the form, how to organise supporting documents, or how to handle invitation letters. That is a choice, not a requirement.
Can Anyone Guarantee a China Visa?
No. Visa decisions are made only by the Chinese visa authorities. Be careful of anyone who says “pay me and your visa is guaranteed”.
Never submit fake bank statements, fake invitation letters or fake hotel bookings. False documents can lead to refusal and can damage future applications.
How to Reduce the Cost of Your China Visa
- Apply early so you can use regular processing instead of paying ₦42,400 to ₦74,500 extra for express or urgent service.
- Prepare complete documents to avoid delays and repeat trips to Lagos.
- Skip optional services you do not need. The Premium Lounge is for comfort only.
- Choose the right number of entries. If you will visit China more than once this year, a multiple-entry visa can save money.
- Check current fees on the official websites, not old social media posts.

How much is a China visa in Nigeria in 2026?
The embassy visa fee is ₦10,500 to ₦31,500, depending on the number of entries. You also pay a visa centre service fee, currently ₦74,500 for regular processing. A single-entry visa therefore costs about ₦85,000 in total, before optional services.
How much is a China business visa in Nigeria?
The M (business) visa uses the same fee table: from ₦10,500 for single entry to ₦31,500 for one-year multiple entry, plus the centre service fee.
Why do some agents charge much more than ₦10,500?
₦10,500 is only the embassy fee. A full quotation can also include the ₦74,500 centre fee, optional services, flight and hotel reservations and the agent’s own charge. Ask for a written breakdown.

No. Only the Chinese visa authorities decide. Avoid anyone who promises guaranteed approval.
Can an agent charge a service fee?
Yes. A consultant can charge for their time and expertise, but the fee should be stated clearly and separately from the embassy and centre fees.
How can I know whether a China visa quotation is reasonable?
Ask the agent to split the quote into embassy fee, centre fee, optional services and their own charge. Compare the first two with the official figures in this guide.

Normally 4 working days, subject to the visa officer’s decision. Express and urgent processing are available for an extra fee.
Where can I apply for a China visa in Lagos?
